IMPORTANT: Location changed to The Hilton, 488 George St, SydneyWicked Problems and SharePoint; The one best practice to rule them all Speaker: Paul Culmsee Wicked problems are a particular class of problems – that often defy traditional thinking, tools, and methods that are useful only for simpler ("tame") problems. Most projects today have a significant wicked component and SharePoint is especially susceptible to falling victim. SharePoint project failure more often than not a result of problem wickedness. In fact, wicked problems are so commonplace that the chaos and futility that usually attend them are accepted as inevitable. Failing to recognize the "wicked dynamics" in problems, we persist in applying inappropriate methods and tools to them. This session introduces the concept of wicked versus tame problems, why SharePoint projects often fall foul of them, and offers insights into how wickedness can be managed or tamed to make your SharePoint investment a success. 2007 and 2010 Head to Head in the Real World Speaker: Nicolas Hadlee SharePoint 2010 is abut to arrive with the promise of significant improvements over its 2007 predecessor. Gary and Nick will go head to head using SharePoint 2007 and 2010 and implement a real world solution to see what really has been made easier and better. This session will focus on a live demonstration that takes a real world problem and implements the solution in both SharePoint 2007 and 2010 to contrast and compare the options available under each version. It will demonstrate building an application through the use of site admin pages, SharePoint Designer and maybe even a small amount of code in Visual Studio (don't let it you put off!). It is aimed at a broad audience from developers, IT managers, business analysts and end users. To see more details and RSVP, please visit our facebook .NET group or our LinkedIn .NET group.
